There are words that 'jump out' on you, from the page they were printed on. Such a word was 'mortuary' for the founder and only member of Abandoned Mortuary, who, when seeing the word for the first time in his life, immediately thought: what a good name it would be for a death metal band. It came as no surprise a bit later that the name had already been taken by other bands, of course it had, it is such a cool name. It was not the first case in history that a band would change their name by adding another word to it, having discovered their name had already been taken by someone else (think of Vengeance Rising for example). By having added the word 'abandoned', some meaning was added, too: while the name is open for different interpretations (or no interpretation, for that matter), the term 'abandoned mortuary' can refer to a burial place where resurrection has happened, proclaiming life's victory over death.
The goal of Abandoned Mortuary, while often touching on not exactly bright and happy subjects such as social alienation, mass manipulation by the media, the madness of power hungry political figures, etc. is not to depress the listener but to give voice to the frustration and opposition against what is wrong with the world today.
As the name would give you a hint, Abandoned Mortuary plays music that is close to what we call death metal and grindcore: mostly fast tunes with blastbeats and extreme vocals. But influences are not limited to death and grind, you can hear hints of thrash and old school hardcore as well. What you will not hear is an abundance of breakdowns, 7 or 8 stringed guitars or pig squeals - this is certainly not contemporary deathcore.
After the split with Irgalom, the full-length album Race Of Hypocrisy and the two EPs Redefining Everything and Lamentations, now you get a mini-album called Divided, containing 22 tracks in a bit less than 27 minutes. As you can guess, this time it is more grindcore than death metal.

Abandoned Mortuary - Cover song recorded

Abandoned Mortuary recorded a cover song that will serve as the B side of the tape release of the upcoming mini-EP It Is Finished. The song is called Pool Of Blood and was written by a now defunct hardcore/metalcore band Cast In Stone.

Abandoned Mortuary - New EP being recorded

While not abandoning (no pun intended) the Lamentations EP, Abandoned Mortuary just finished recording music for another EP called Redefining Everything. Unlike Lamentations, it will be a step back towards the debut release Emotional Wasteland with shorter songs, lyrics dealing mostly with social issues, and a tape release.

Abandoned Mortuary - the newest addition to the family

The ever growing Abran family has a new member that we hope you will all welcome. Abandoned Mortuary is representing the more brutal side of the label, playing a fine blend of old school death metal, thrash metal and punk hardcore. The band's debut album Emotional Wasteland is to be released soon. If you find the musical style and the title sounding familiar, it is no coincidence: Abandoned Mortuary was built around songs that did not make it to Internal Excavation's debut. Not because of their quality, simply because there was already enough material to absorb for the band members. As Abandoned Mortuary is a one man band, it is very convenient to find enough time to 'get together', learn the songs and prepare for the recording that will take place within a few weeks from now. But it will not be all 'leftover' material, a few fresh songs have just been written, specifically for the upcoming debut that will be released on cassette tape.
